The first fire in the forests of Kukes has been activated for this year, although temperatures are low.
A large fire was activated this Monday morning in the forest of Shtanë village, Malzi Kukës Administrative Unit.
The fire broke out in the area called Shtana a forest area with shower and juniper. Meanwhile, the Municipality of Kukës has engaged 8 members of the Fire Service of the Municipality, while the Forest Service has engaged 3 members of the Fire Department.
Work is being done to make it possible to extinguish and insulate the fire that has fallen on a large area of 8-10 hectares with description.
Due to the rather rugged mountainous terrain, the working groups walk on foot while the firefighting operation is difficult as it is favored by strong winds that spread the flames.
Extinguishing is done with shovels and back pumps as fire engines make it impossible to enter the mountain.
Recall that in August last year, hundreds of hectares of forests and pastures were burned.
Meanwhile, to extinguish the fire, the firefighting team was joined by local residents to help insulate the fire.
According to official information, it is learned that the police forces are at the scene and are working to find the causes that led to the fire in the forest of Shtane village, Malzi unit.
