About a year ago, Edmond Llangozi was killed in Athens while defending his son from a fight with compatriots over a debt worth 600 euros.
The survivor of the event, Angjelo Llangozi spoke on the show “Albania Live” revealing all the details, from the debt to the clash with the armed person guarded by 5 others and how the father was killed defending his brother.
Angjelo Llangozi: We were close to the neighborhood where we lived in Athens. That person kept my brother close to my brother. Dad worked in a firm. The debt was taken by the brother but he did not tell us the reason. He had taken it from Son. Dad and I were at work and when we got home he told us he owed money. We would meet on January 11th. That person when he came, got out of the car, put the pistol directly at us. He said nothing. I ran to leave the house and the brother entered the bar. Soni and my brother were punched in the bar. At that moment there were several other people. There were about 5 people guarding that no one else entered the bar. That moment I came back, I wanted to go inside, I found an ashtray and threw it inside. One of the persons shot me with the barrel of the pistol, I fell to the ground and shot me. This Soni came out and was shooting inside the bar. There Dad came and fired bullets. Only 1 bullet hit him in the heart.
Question: Was the restaurant empty, yours or the suspected perpetrator?
Angjelo Llangozi: There was a Greek. The bar usually had people. The moment we entered we had no one inside. They were the girl who was at the event, the waitress and the owner. They came out of the bar and saw the scene of it all. There were also cameras.
Question: How many minutes did it take?
Angjelo Llangozi: For a few minutes. After 10-20 minutes the police came. I was holding my brother because he was lying on the ground. We went to return the money. We did not say at all that he aimed his gun directly at us. The brother told us that he had borrowed money because he had gone out with some girls. The father said well return the money.
Question: Brother did not give any explanation for this debt?
Angjelo Llangozi: He just told us he wanted to have fun. I do not know how long it took him. I was at work and when we got home he told us this. The brother sometimes worked as a motor distributor.
After this tragic event, the brothers chose to return to live in Albania even though they were born in Athens and the father had lived in Greece for 25 years.
Angjelo Llangozi: We could not stay there, and if I return to Greece I will be annoyed. I remember the event. Now we want to open a store for our future. My brother and I work, my mom does not work.
Among other things, Angjelo Llangozi explained that they never worked with the person suspected of being the perpetrator of the murder and stressed that they had no contact or information about him, but left it to justice. The suspect is still enjoying freedom.
