Tirana has started 2022 as the European Capital of Youth, with a super program that will last 365 days, which gives life to a calendar of projects with numerous initiatives and activities that cover a wide range of topics and priorities centered youth.

We have opportunities we did not have before. “Every school is made with a hall that can serve as a theater, cinema, or for activities,” said Veliaj.
He said that for our country these are important years, both in local terms, where Tirana has received this year the title of European Capital of Youth, and in the national plan, where Albania is a member of the UN Security Council for two years. “Two things are happening, on two different platforms: One is the local platform and the other is the national platform. On the national platform, Albania in 2022-23 is a member of the Security Council. In a world that is changing very fast, especially after Covid, but also with all the geopolitical movements, it is great luck that we also have a local platform. The mayor invited the young people to participate with their projects and ideas, as he enumerated the new sports facilities, as well as future projects. “We have undertaken to build more youth infrastructure. We just opened the handmade stadium “Farie Hoti”, rebuilt from scratch, or the Olympic Park. We want to start the Palace of Sports very soon. We want to do the same with the stadium “Selman Stermasi”. We want to make a call to have an infrastructure where the biggest school or university football teams can play.
