The European Union has evacuated about 200 Ukrainian patients seeking emergency medical care from Ukraine, neighboring countries and hospitals in European countries.
European Commission spokesman Balazs Ujvari said the continuation of the war has led to continued emigration of Ukrainians and presses on the health care system.
Following requests from Poland, Slovakia, Moldova and Ukraine, the EU has transferred Ukrainian patients to 11 different European countries who need specialized medical assistance in hospitals.
The transfer of patients was supported by the first aircraft dedicated to medical evacuation from the EU, which has been operational since March.
