The Constitutional Court announces that the hearing will be postponed because the rapporteur of the case has tested positive for Covid-19.
Meanwhile, it is learned that the next session in the Constitutional Court will take place on February 1 at 10:00.
The issue with the applicant Assembly of the Republic of Albania and object: “On the dismissal of the President of the Republic of Albania for serious violations of the Constitution”, scheduled to take place in the public plenary session on 18.01.2022, at 10:00 , based on article 44 / a of law no. 8577, dated 10.02.2000 “On the organization and functioning of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Albania”, as amended, has been postponed to 01.02.2022, at 10:00, for reasons that the rapporteur of the case has tested positive for COVID-19 ”, it is stated in the notification of the Constitutional Court.
Seven Constitutional judges were expected to take over the presidency the next day. A decision of this court in favor of the decision of the Assembly, which could mark the first precedent of dismissal of a President.
Dismissed or not by the Court, Ilir Meta can soon return to the political arena, as on July 24, 2022 his term as President ends naturally.
