Czech Defense Minister Jana Cernochova has stated today that the Czech Republic will repair Ukrainian tanks and armored personnel carriers of personnel injured in the fighting.
She said the first vehicles would be Ukrainian T-64 tanks, but others, including infantry fighting vehicles, would follow.
Cernochova said the Czech Republic was the first country to approach Ukraine with a request for service and repair of combat vehicles. Seznam said the vehicles would also be repaired in Ukraine’s neighbor, Slovakia.
The Czech Republic was the first foreign country to supply Ukraine with Soviet-era T-72 tanks, as well as BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicles, belonging to its active reserves. There are also reports that it has supplied self-propelled artillery, as well as numerous missile systems.
The Ministry of Defense refuses to specify the amount and type of shipments to Ukraine, only confirming that it is sending light and heavy weapons and will continue to do so despite Russian objections.
In addition to official government military assistance, a crowd funding campaign to purchase weapons for the Ukrainian Armed Forces has so far raised over € 40 million (33 33 million).
