The Constitutional Court has rejected the request of the legal representatives of President Ilir Meta who requested that the representatives of the Albanian Parliament not be present at the session.
The trial panel assessed that the Constitutional Court was set in motion by the Speaker of the Parliament on June 14 last year, when it was headed by Gramoz Ruçi when the decision no. 55 of the Assembly was forwarded.
“It turns out that the President of the Assembly has authorized the representatives according to the law. The claims will become part of the analysis and decision-making of the court in the final decision“, Was said in the arguments of the court.
Meta’s legal advisor, Bledar Dervishaj made a new preliminary request related to the Assembly representative in the session.
During his speech, Dervishaj said that “The Assembly Legislature ended in September 2021 and the new legislature has started. The President considers the presence of the representatives of the Assembly illegitimate “.
According to Meta’s legal representative, there is already a new legislature and composition in the Assembly.
Meanwhile, the representative of the Assembly, Klotilda Bushka, responded to Dervishaj’s claim, emphasizing that this argument does not stand.
“The claim does not stand, as the Assembly has continuity. The decisions made follow. A decision of the Assembly is by no means nullified because new elections have been held. If the decisions of the previous Assemblies become null, then Ilir Meta is no longer president because he had to be confirmed by the new legislature“, She said.
