A cleaner who barbarically killed her elderly ex-employer by beating her with a walking stick and stabbing her had then called her husband for the act of horror she committed.
Hanny Papanicolaou had crossed the back fence of Majorie Welsh’s house in Sydney, Australia before massacring the 92-year-old in the horrific event of January 2019.
An Australian court found the 39-year-old guilty and sentenced her to 22 years in prison, with a 15-year suspended sentence.
The court was told how the killer had sent her husband a series of texts after he had strangled her victim with the walking stick and stabbed her.
“You no longer trust me, please, you better die. Take care of the children, I am tired of this life “, wrote her messages for her husband.
Judge Robertson Wright said the killing was not “planned but merely impulsive” and that Papanicolaou was gambling and wanted to rob Majorie when he forcibly entered her home.
He said Papanicolaou had left about $ 430 at the casino about 15 minutes before going to the victim’s house.
“After parking the car, Papanicolaou entered the back of the Welsh house crossing the fence,” he said.
“She hit Mrs. Welsh on the head, face and body with decorative ceramic objects, which were on the kitchen shelves of Mrs. Welsh.”
“Papanicolaou then shot him in the chest and abdomen with a knife while he was running away before the emergency services arrived.”
The elderly woman had been taken to hospital for surgery but had died a few weeks later from her injuries.
While in the hospital, the victim referred to the attacker as “Hanny the Cleaner” and described the brutality of the attack in detail, but could not find a motive for the barbaric acts.
Angela MacLeod, one of Majorie’s two daughters said her mother could have achieved what she wanted in life.
“Life has not always been easy for mom… but she was strong, loving, protective, and everything a mother would want. “We were proud of him,” she said.
