Britain’s most advanced missile system is reported to have shot down a Russian helicopter for the first time in Ukraine, writes The Independent.
Britain supplied Ukraine with the Starstreak missile system in early March, while the Starstreak attack on a Russian helicopter in the Luhansk region has been confirmed by the defense ministry.
The British military says the Starstreak is a “highly capable air defense weapon” that is particularly effective against helicopters.
Secretary of Defense Ben Wallace said the Starstreak is a missile that can be fired by soldiers on the ground, travels three times faster than the speed of sound and can be used to shoot down enemy aircraft flying low.
