A former Brazilian model, a war enthusiast who operated as a ‘sniper’ in various conflicts, has died fighting in Ukraine just three weeks after joining the Foreign Legion as a fighter against Putin’s forces.
39-year-old Thalito do Valle has also participated in humanitarian missions in other countries of the world against terrorist groups such as ISIS IN Iraq.
She was killed last week when a rocket hit her bunker in Kharkiv in the country’s northeast, which has been bombed during months of war.
Along with the model, the Brazilian captain of her unit Douglas Burigo, 40, who had returned to the bunker to look for Thalita, was also killed in the attack.
Some sources reported that she was the only one left in the bunker at the time of the attack while some Brazilian media said that several other foreign fighters died.
Thalita had documented her experience of the conflicts on her YouTube channel where some of the videos of fighting against ISIS had more than ISIS 32,000 views.
She previously worked as a model and actress, campaigning for animal rights activism and other modern liberal initiatives.
In her videos she talked about the training she received as a sniper operator while fighting with the Kurdish Peshmerga forces in the independent Kurdistan region of Iraq.
Thalita’s brother Theo Rodrigo Viera described her as a heroine who tried to save lives by participating in humanitarian missions.
He said that the girl had been in Ukraine for three weeks, being recruited on the war front.
Having survived a bombing in the capital Kiev, Thalita had explained to her family that her activity was being monitored and she could not communicate much.
Thalita’s death is the latest reported for foreign fighters in Ukraine, most of whom have been sent on missions to the east.
