The Balkans are facing a scorching heatwave that has forced hydrometeorological institutes in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Croatia to issue a red weather alert due to high temperatures.
The alarm is accompanied by more advice to the population for precautionary measures, and for the interruption of outdoor activities. Daily temperatures, according to meteorologists, will be above 34 degrees and rising.
“Sunny weather in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the afternoon gradually increasing cloudiness. Daily highs of 35 to 41 degrees, south to 42 degrees”says the forecast of the Federal Hydrometeorological Institute.
Even the Republican Hydrometeorological Institute of Serbia announced today the red alert in the whole country due to high temperatures.
Temperatures in Serbia today will be between 37 and 41 degrees. Meanwhile, Sunday there is expected to bring a decrease in the mercury of the thermometer by almost five degrees and in certain areas, there may also be light rain.
The situation in Macedonia is different, where Sunday will bring even higher temperatures, up to 42 degrees, while until July 27, the country will remain in the orange band of heat danger.
Extremely high temperatures are expected across Croatia this weekend, which is why a red weather alert has been issued in almost all regions.
“Extremely high temperatures are expected. Protect yourself, children and the elderly. Act according to the advice given by the competent authorities”. announced the Croatian State Hydrometeorological Institute.
A red warning is in effect these days for the regions of Knin, Rijeka, Split and Dubrovnik.
