NASA’s Crew-3 mission is returning to Earth after six months at the International Space Station.
The SpaceX Dragon Endurance spacecraft with NASA astronauts Kayla Barron, Raja Chari and Tom Marshburn, as well as European Space Agency astronaut Matthias Maurer, detached from the orbital laboratory on Thursday night.
Their 23.5-hour return voyage will end when they land off the coast of Florida at 12:43 a.m. Friday.
They left behind an Italian astronaut and three American Crew-4s, and three Russian cosmonauts. Before leaving, Marshburn handed over command of the Russian station to Oleg Artemyev.
During their mission, Crew-3 conducted hundreds of scientific experiments, including exploring how concrete hardens in space and monitoring the Earth.
