A small asteroid hit Earth over Iceland last Friday, just hours after it was spotted by astronomers.
The Independent writes that Astronomers and the European Space Agency noticed it just hours before it hit Earth.
The object crashed 40 kilometers south of the Norwegian island of Jan Mayen in the Arctic Sea, and the explosion was equivalent to two to three thousand tons of explosive dynamite.
The space rock, called “2022 EB5”, is believed to have burned in the atmosphere of our planet, but even if it had touched the surface, it would not have hurt, because it was only 3 meters wide.
Some people in Iceland reported hearing a bang and seeing a light during the time the 2022 EB5 flew across the sky at 11 miles per second (18.5 km / s), between Greenland and Norway.
Ahead of the collision, which occurred in the atmosphere in northern Iceland at 21:22 on Friday, March 11, the space rock became the fifth asteroid to be discovered before it hit Earth.
