An adventure tourist who took a forbidden route to Mount Vesuvius in southwest Italy has been injured after falling into the famous volcano’s crater while taking photos with his cellphone.
The 23-year-old American had climbed to the top of the volcano most of the time it was active, and then fell several meters into the crater after losing his balance.
Luckily there were people and mountain guides by his side who helped him out and then a rescue helicopter was called to rescue him.
The young man was treated for minor wounds on his arms and back, but refused to go to the hospital, the local daily wrote. La Repubblica.
The American and his family now face investigations for ignoring the volcanic country’s warning signs and the unprotected paths he used.
The local media wrote that the family had not cut the tickets that have been set for entering the mysterious area.

Its last eruption occurred in 1944, and it is still considered one of the world’s most dangerous volcanoes in the vicinity of residential areas, with around 600,000 people living within the danger zone.
