Nicholas Rossi, 34, whose body was allegedly inserted into a crematorium a few years ago, was recently caught in a hospital in Scotland where he went to seek treatment for the infection.
The wanted American had staged his death to escape rape charges, but now faces extradition after being caught in Glasgow hospital.
Rossi was wanted by Interpol in connection with a 2008 sexual assault in the US state of Utah.
He was arrested Dec. 13 while using the nickname ‘Arthur Knight’ at Glasgow University Hospital.
Utah prosecutors said the fugitive “had fled the country to avoid prosecution” and “was trying to make investigators believe he was dead.”
Rossi has used many false names during his time on the run, authorities said, including Nicholas Alahverdian, Nicholas Alahverdian Rossi, Nicholas Edward Rossi, Nicholas Alahverdian-Rossi, Nick Alan, Nicholas Brown, Arthur Brown and Arthur Knight.
Various media reported in 2020 that Nicholas Alahverdian had died on 29 February 2020 from lymphoma cancer. The EverLoved.com network claimed that his body had been sent to the crematorium and that the ashes had been dumped into the sea.
The FBI had issued a warrant for the arrest of the manipulator who had illegally profited from his stepfather and taken out bank debts of up to $ 200,000, according to BBC News.
While the rape charge in Utah is part of the archived cases in which the DNA test has not yet been performed, writes The Guardian.
