Albania and Germany signed today the agreement for mutual recognition of driving licenses, which benefits almost 130 thousand Albanians residing in Germany.
Through a press release, the German Embassy in Tirana has shown how Albanian patents will work there.
It is noted that the new rules will enter into force on June 1 this year, where holders of a driving license of categories A, A1, A2, B, EU, C, C1, C2, D, D1, D2 (motorcycle, car , truck and bus), issued after 24 January 2017, can do the conversion without the need for a new exam.
This applies to Albanians residing in Germany, who stay there for at least 185 days a year.
The new regulation applies to holders of a driving license issued after 24.01.2017 by the responsible authorities in Albania, who are domiciled in Germany.
Holders of a patent issued before 24.01.2017 in Albania, residing in Germany before 24.01.2017, can request information through the Federal Office for Vehicles (KBA) from the responsible authority in Albania regarding the possession and validity of the permit of direction.
The regulation applies to holders of a residence permit issued by the German authorities, who are resident in Albania (stay of not less than 185 days per calendar year).
The Embassy notes that for Germany this recognition represents an important development in addressing the shortage of skilled labor.
