President Ilir Meta’s decree on the agreement for the Butrint Park Administration was rejected today by the Committee for Economy and Finance.
The review of the Presidential Decree “On the approval of the agreement for the administration of sub-areas of cultural heritage and cultural landscape, part of the national park of Butrint, between the Ministry of Culture and the Foundation for the Management of Butrint” was accompanied by debates between the democratic deputy Ina Xhupa and the head of the commission, Eduart Shalsi.
In June, Meta returned for consideration the agreement for the administration of Butrint Park, since according to him it violates concrete provisions of the Constitution and the constitutional principles of the rule of law.
The President previously emphasized that the practice followed by the executive and the Parliament of Albania, results that it has not realized and has not ensured the opinion of independent local expertise that has in-depth knowledge of the Butrint National Park, its sub-areas and archaeological sites.
The draft law that includes the administration of sub-areas of cultural heritage by the non-state Albanian-American Foundation for Development has sparked a debate not only in the committee, but also in the Assembly.
