Sweden’s Ambassador to Tirana, Esla Hastad, said that Prime Minister Edi Rama guaranteed support to her country on the path to NATO membership.

The Swedish government has made an assessment that in the current security climate the best way is to apply to NATO. Sweden has decided to increase investment in the field of security by 2% of gross domestic product, will contribute with technological competence, we will walk side by side with Finland in NATO membership. How the process will go, we are waiting to coordinate with Finland the process will start within NATO while Sweden and NATO. “Yesterday I met with Rama and I was in contact with Minister Olta Xhaçka, both of them guaranteed me Sweden’s support in this process, it is a historic day not only for Sweden, but also for NATO.”
“Sweden is applying for NATO and Albania has aspirations to join the EU, for more than 20 years Sweden has been helping Albania in Brussels and with funds, we inform you that every year in Albania 15 million euros are given to help in the negotiations”said Hastad.
Recall that Sweden applied for NATO membership, amid all the unrest that is taking place since Russia’s attacks on Ukraine.
