The relocation of the Sunny Hill festival in Tirana has aroused strong reactions and debates in Kosovo.
Mayor Erion Veliaj, while participating in an organization of the Union of Municipalities in the region, expressed his position that quarrels should be put aside and that the activities that unite us best serve our nation.
“There is no need to go abroad to evaluate ourselves, there is no need for foreigners to come here to evaluate us. Finally we have a super activity, which I hope will continue every year, with a super jury, but above all with talented boys and girls from Albania, Montenegro, Northern Macedonia and Kosovo. I am very proud of you all! Lately we, the politicians, have ruined it a bit, we try to find reasons for cic-mice, for small quarrels for three votes here, for five votes there. When an activity takes place in Tirana, it does not take place in Moscow, it takes place in Tirana. Doku Fest is happening in Prizren, it is not happening in a Russian city, it is happening in another Albanian city. So let’s put aside the wonders we have seen these days, and realize that there are more things that unite us than those that divide us. The hours we are living are the best hours for Albanians “said Veliaj.
The competition was dedicated to young people aged 18-35 from all Albanian-speaking cities in the Western Balkans region, in order to promote employment in creative economies.
