The teachers of the gymnasium “Bedri Pejani” in Peja spent the first hour of classes outside the classrooms where they are usually at 8 o’clock in the morning.
For an hour they did not leave the teachers’ hall in protest of their working conditions.
The teachers’ strike was held throughout Kosovo. All schools in Pristina were also on strike for an hour. The strike also gathered many citizens in front of the administration in the Municipality of Peja.
From 8 am to 9 am, citizens who wanted to perform services in their local administrations could not do so, because public administration workers at the national level are also on strike.
Workers of energy companies in Kosovo also went on strike for an hour.
The one-hour strike heralds a May 20 protest if the requirements for implementing the Payroll Law for teachers and other public sector workers are not met.
