Citizens in some of the cities of the country have protested peacefully after the death of young Ilvi Meta at the Kavaja police station.
The silent and peaceful protest called by the Democratic Party a few hours ago, is being held with the motto “Stop killing at police stations”.
Under the motto “Stop killing at police stations”, in the city of Durres and Kavaja, a silent protest is taking place near the police station where young people with banners in their hands are placed in front of the police building.
They lit candles for the loss of life inside the security rooms at the police stations. Following the suspicious death of Ilvi Meta inside the Kavaja police station on May 4, the re-establishment commission demanded that Democrats and citizens across the country protest peacefully in front of police stations in defense of life.
Shkodra Democrats also held a peaceful protest in front of the police station. They gathered holding 1 minute of silence as they lit the candles as well. The chairman of the Democratic Party of Shkodra, Gjenerin Kapcari, called on the prosecution that the event where the young man Meta died be revealed.
For almost 20 minutes, a group of members and supporters of the Democratic Party of the Korça branch have been protesting in front of the Korça police station.
According to the chairman of this branch, Devis Osmani, the cause was the unclear death of a young man in the premises of the Kavaja police station.
According to Osmani, a similar thing happened three years ago inside the Korça police station, an event that even today, according to him, has remained unsolved.
Candlelight homage protests took place in the premises of the police stations of Pogradec, Devoll and Kolonja.
We recall that two days ago, his relatives and family placed candles at the Kavaja police station.
The Kavaja court today imposed the security measure “Prison arrest” for the three employees of the police station who were arrested on charges of abuse of office after the death of Ilvi Meta inside the premises of the police station on May 4.
The defense of the detainees requested a lighter coercive measure stating that they are persons without social danger, but the court did not consider the request by assigning arrest in prison for all three until the end of the investigation.
The court hearing was held behind closed doors. The prosecutor of the case requested arrest in prison for the three arrested, former police officers Rushit Kola, Bexhet Berberi and Deputy Commissioner Petrit Brahimaj, a request that was accepted by Judge Diamela Goxha, while investigations into Meta’s death continue.
Handcuffed for the event ended under commissioner Betrit Berhamaj and inspectors Bexhet Beriberi and Reshit Kola.
They are accused of not following the standard procedures of treatment of detained persons by allowing him to wear the belt with which the young man committed suicide.
Although the preliminary investigations into the death of 31-year-old Ilvi Meta, inside the Kavaja police station, showed that we are dealing with a suicide, but the family members raise shadows of suspicion, because according to them he did not suffer police escort or conviction.
The Top Story show exclusively published, with the approval of family members, photos of the dead body a few minutes after it was found by the police.
