The celebrations for the 14th anniversary of Kosovo’s independence begin with the flag-raising ceremony in the space between the Presidency, the Assembly and the Government in the capital.

Calling Kosovo’s independence the most culminating achievement of the Albanian people, the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, commemorated all those who contributed to Kosovo’s freedom and independence.
Osmani said that Kosovo’s freedom will be complete when justice is served to all victims of the war and when the last missing citizen returns.
Osmani called for unity to overcome the challenges, while emphasizing that February 17, 2008 once and for all determined the fate of Kosovo as an independent and sovereign state.
“Starting from the visionary and architect of the state of Kosovo, Ibrahim Rugova who knew how to clarify the will of citizens before the world and create friendships that we still enjoy today and continuing with over 3 thousand martyrs who sacrificed their lives in a way that today we live free led by the legendary commander, Adem Jashari and the Jashari family. Of course, the sacrifice for our state has been extremely great over 13 thousand civilians of which 1 thousand 133 and more children about 20 thousand survivors of sexual violence during the war, over 130 thousand houses destroyed many cultural monuments and over 1 thousand 600 missing are still open wounds of our Republic and our freedom will be complete on the day when there will be justice for all victims and on the day when even our last citizen will return to our Republic to his country , to their families. On this day, of course, we celebrate the achievements of the Republic of Kosovo because our state is of course a done deal and on February 17, 2008 our destiny as an independent and sovereign state was determined once and for all and in these challenges we must stay united because our history has always proved that only when we are united and united around the goal of making Kosovo a successful state, a state that excels its citizens, a state that all young and old are proud of, then we can really have success ”declared President Osmani.
Whereas, the Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, Glauk Konjufca, while congratulating the citizens on the 14th birthday of Kosovo’s independence, said that the state of Kosovo will stand high and indomitable forever.
