“Standards are important, not names”, Alibeaj: I refused to get acquainted with the secret file of IM Albania needs to be decommunized

Alibey: This morning I had an unexpected invitation from the Speaker of the Assembly Mrs. Lindita Nikolla. He asked to inform me of the materials received by the Files Authority, as Chairman of the DP Parliamentary Group. I refused to get acquainted with the details of the secret file of the politician with the initials IM!

For me as a politician and for DP as a party founded on the principles of transparency, standards and not proper names are important for the normal functioning of democracy.

I informed the Speaker of the Assembly that the position of the DP on the issue of files has been coherent and continues to remain unchanged. The Albanian society and state has a pressing need to decommunize.

We were the ones who requested the exclusion of insurance from appointments in the justice reform and we succeeded. DP not only requested, but also prepared the bill for decommunization. We have submitted the draft law for the return of Spaci and Tepelena to national museums. We have systematically requested the declassification of the state insurance files, even 1 week ago in the Assembly, we will file the relevant initiative for this purpose.

PD has initiated and supported every legal, political and civil society effort for the missing transparency for the dictatorship’s files. Only in this way will the nightmares of souls troubled by communism disappear and the psychosis of blackmail will end.

The bitter fact remains that for 30 years, the political class in Albania has been unable to provide Albanians with the full truth of the state’s insurance files. As the same politicians have used such files for blackmail of personal power interests.

DP has a clear and steadfast position on the issue of state security files and associates.

The missing transparency is the justice denied to those thousands of Albanians who suffered during the communist dictatorship. Any initiative for opening files, lustration or decommunization, as we have systematically requested, will have our full support. But these initiatives must be complete, sincere and exhaustive, and not half-hearted for the sake of small political games.

The PD was created as an anti-communist force and will continue to fulfill its mission, the restoration of the trampled dignity and values ​​denied during the communist dictatorship.
