Madrid- Vandalism and violence have again accompanied the protests in Spain that were organized for the sixth night in a row with the demand for the release of imprisoned rapper Pablo Hasel on February 16, reports Anadolu Agency (AA).
The protests, which took place in Barcelona, Girona and Lleida, also spread to several cities in the Basque region.
In Barcelona, where most of the violent acts have taken place so far, the incidents continued on the sixth day.
Protesters of far-left groups set fire to rubbish bins and blocked roads, as well as damaging shops, banks and vehicles, as well as attacking police by throwing stones and bottles.
Police have arrested 6 people, 5 of whom were involved in the robbery of a shop.
About 107 people have been detained by police and nearly 82 have been injured in the last six days. Most of the detainees have been released by the courts.
Hasel, who was sentenced to nine months in prison for glorifying terrorism and insulting the monarchy and state institutions for some of the expressions he used on Twitter and in his songs, was jailed by police on February 16th.
A new court decision was issued against him, which includes two and a half years in prison due to another charge.
The imprisonment of the Spanish rapper has sparked debates in Spain about democracy and freedom of expression.
Radical left-wing groups across the country, particularly Unidos Podemos, the junior partner of the left-wing coalition government, are demanding that Hasel be pardoned and released.
