The Socialist Party is preparing to win the third term for the Municipality of Tirana.
This was stated by the Socialist Mayor Erion Veliaj during the meeting with the young socialists who came from all over the world in Tirana.
“We are preparing for the battle for the third term in Tirana, but definitely to continue the progress we have started. We start the campaign for the next elections on the day when the result of the last elections is just announced. This is the reason why we have started our reorganization for years because we believe that only one party, which is in constant campaign, uninterruptedly, is a party that can keep pace with the times “, said Veliaj, who is also the leader SP policy for the Tirana region.
The Mayor of Tirana stated that the SP takes the issue of young people very seriously and it has entrusted many young people with important representation tasks. He added that young people can not be treated as ‘garnits’ to applaud the leader in the campaign. “Young people are not a decoration, but for the SP they are substances,” said Veliaj.
Given the recent developments in Ukraine, Veliaj underlined that socialists everywhere in the region and in the world will have to be more solidary.
“The next question is: what are the socialist youth doing all over the world, with what is happening in Ukraine? Are we all in solidarity? It turns out to me that even within our region, two of the 6 countries of the Western Balkans have zero sanctions against Russia. “How can we have the ambition to be members of the European Union and within our region we have two countries that have no sanctions with Russia?”he added.
The Secretary General of the Socialist Party, Damian Gjiknuri, underlined that the Socialist Party is an example of the involvement of young people in the governance of the country.
“SP is one of the examples of how we have involved more young people in governing the country. Whether at the highest levels of government, whether at the party level, local level or central government. Why not to reflect the spirit that young people have, but also many of the ideas and needs that the younger generations have in order for politics to be as relevant to you as possible It is not just a matter of numbers being seen as numbers. But without young people, there is no future for a country. Practically, the future of a country is determined by what it does for today’s generation. It is not up to us to tell you what the future holds. Who predicts the future? You have to predict the future for yourself. We must create the conditions for you to work for your own future ““, Said Gjiknuri.
He appealed to young people to become part of political activism as a way to decide for themselves their own destinies.
