The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is one of the most popular attractions in the world, as it attracts millions of visitors every year.
Inspired by Persian, Mughal and Moorish architecture, the mosque was a truly international collaboration of more than 3,000 artisans from 38 global construction companies.
The large structure is topped with 82 white marble domes, including one of the largest of its kind anywhere in the world.
The mosque can accommodate at least 40,000 worshipers at a time and has 1,096 exterior columns, 96 interior columns decorated with jewels.
Many different artists consider this project as magnificent, one of them is the British designer Kevin Dean, who decorated the courtyard of the mosque with flowers.
“I could not believe it. It was incredible and so beautiful. For the main yard I used flowers that can be found in the Middle East region “said Dean.
The mosque has also had many visitors from VIPs, such as Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Shanina Shaik, Chanel Iman and Halima Aden.
The interior of the mosque is illuminated by large chandeliers, including seven Swarovski crystal fittings clad in gold 24.
Modest dress is a must for all visitors as it is a Muslim place. Women should cover the legs, arms and head and men should wear long pants. However, the mosque offers traditional traditional clothes free of charge before entering.
“Like many large buildings, I think it is a combination of scale and faith that makes the mosque so magical.”said the CNN photographer.
The mosque has a reported price of $ 545 million and is the third largest mosque in the world.
The building got its name from the first president of the United Arab Emirates and the ruler of Abu Dhabi, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who conceived the idea. After his death in 2004, he was buried in the main courtyard of the mosque.
