The police operation codenamed “GUDA” is successfully finalized, where 3 citizens are handcuffed, one of them a customs officer at the Qafëbotë Customs Point.
From the investigative actions it resulted that these citizens in cooperation with each other, have passed a quantity of goods of dairy by-products through the Customs Point Qafëbotë without performing the relevant actions.
The operation by the Section for Investigation of Economic-Financial Crime in cooperation with the Operational Section, following the work to prevent, identify and crack down on criminal activity in the field of smuggling of goods, arrested in flagrante delicto citizens: KB, 52 years old, resident in Gjirokastra, JH, 24 years old, resident in Gjirokastra and DD, 48 years old, resident in Saranda (on duty at the Customs Point Qafëbotë.)
According to the police, on the road axis Qafë-Muzinë – Gjirokastër, a van type vehicle with driver’s citizen KB was found, inside which were found 296 packages with dairy by-products, with a total weight of 4735 kg, without the relevant documentation. Whereas, the citizen DD, as a customs officer, abused his duty by favoring these citizens not to carry out customs operations.
The materials were forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office at the Gjirokastra Court of First Instance for the criminal offenses “Concealment of income”, “Trade and transportation of smuggled goods”, “Smuggling of other goods” and “Abuse of duty”.
