Angry protesters did not miss the election rally of German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock in Wuppertal.
The German foreign minister took the floor at a rally in support of her green party candidate, Mona Neubauer, when suddenly, a woman started shooting him with eggs.
The senior official reacted quickly. Baerbock skillfully avoided and did not lose his composure. “You can lay as many eggs as you want, you have the right to express your opinion, but this is not the best way,” she said, addressing the woman who hit him without harsh tones.
The eggs did not hit the target, police later said, explaining that the protester would now face criminal charges for attempted physical injury. The rally took place ahead of regional elections in North Rhine-Westphalia, where support for the Greens is currently estimated at around 17%.
