The Chinese city of Shanghai has reopened four of its 20 subway lines as the city is easing measures against the coronavirus, which have forced residents of the city to stay in their homes for more than six weeks.
Shanghai has also resumed operation of 273 bus lines, said Yu Fulin, director of the Shanghai Transport Commission.

The COVID-19 explosion recently took the lives of 580 residents, which is the worst coronavirus explosion since the first explosion in Wuhan in late 2019.
Although the number of new cases is growing, authorities have begun to ease the measures slowly, as they are trying to prevent the virus from spreading beyond isolated areas.
Shanghai, the city of 25 million people, registered close to 700 new cases on Thursday, out of almost 1,000 registered across China.
Authorities in Beijing have reported 55 new cases. In this city, several metro stations have been closed and several bus lines have been cut off. Also, in Beijing, restaurants are closed and residents are instructed to work from home.
