Authorities in the US city of Minneapolis released tragic footage today in which officers shot to death a 22-year-old African-American man as they entered his home.
According to the police, Amir Locke was killed two days ago by the officers in his apartment after he was “pulling a pistol from the blanket with which he was covered”.
The whole episode from the officers entering the apartment with their key to the shooting at Locke, lasted ten seconds.
The young man was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The local daily ‘Star Tribune’ wrote that Locke’s name was not mentioned in the apartment search mandate, during which no warning was heard from the police in the video.
Lawyers for the deceased’s family said he possessed a “legal firearm” and had no other criminal record.
His mother told the media today: “We want justice for our son.”
In the video, the officers are seen using a key to open the main door of the apartment and when they are inside they shout: “Police, we have a control mandate”.
Minneapolis is the city where George Floyd was barbarically killed during his arrest by police in 2020 which was followed by outrage and mass protests.
