The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani and the Prime Minister Albin Kurti have expressed their condolences for the untimely death of former President Bujar Nishani.
The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani wrote on Facebook that President Bujar Nishani was a model of patriot, who represented Albania with high dignity and supported Kosovo unceasingly, to the last breath.
“He dedicated his whole life to Albania and Albanians, being an example of a rational politician with integrity. On behalf of the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo, I express my condolences to the Nishani family and friends and associates! “May the soul of President Nishani rest in peace”, she wrote.
While the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti wrote that Bujar Nishani will be remembered for his contribution to his professional career as a military man and lecturer, MP and minister.

With high national awareness he engaged in the intensification of fraternal relations between Albania and Kosovo, gave unstinting support to the Republic of Kosovo and our compatriots everywhere. The chairman of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Memli Krasniqi wrote that Nishani was one of the great statesmen of Albania.

The chairman of AAK, Ramush Haradinaj has written that they sympathize with the family and relatives for this great loss.

Former President Bujar Nishani passed away at the age of 58. For more than a month, the former President was transferred from the “Shefqet Ndroqi” hospital to a hospital in Germany for more specialized treatment, but according to doctors there he fell into a coma.
Doctors advised family members to make a decision because of lost hopes of waking up.
Nishani was admitted to the former Tirana Sanatorium on April 20 due to complications of a pneumonia superimposed on post covid fibrosis in the lungs. On April 23 he moved to Germany.
Nishani was suffering from an autoimmune disease in the liver and failed to overcome the consequences that the Covid 19 virus left in the body.
