Fast Albania services, after receiving information that a citizen, highly wanted by Turkey was hiding in Pogradec, organized the work and after several days of control, in cooperation with the Pogradec Police Commissariat and Interpol Tirana, finalized the police operation codenamed “Pojska” .
As a result of this operation, on the promenade “10 Martyrs of Pojska”, a Turkish citizen was caught and handcuffed for extradition:
-Salih Akkurt, 42 years old, resident in Konya, Turkey.
This citizen was internationally wanted after the National Central Office of Interpol Tirana was notified by Interpol Ankara, Turkey, that for this citizen, on 05.05.2022, an arrest warrant was issued by the Prosecutor’s Office of Izmir, Turkey, pursuant to decision no. 2020/8992, dated 30.12.2020, according to which, the 42-year-old was sentenced to 21 years, 10 months and 15 days of imprisonment, of which he has 10 years and 1 day of imprisonment left, for the offenses “Serious fraud using information systems, banks and credit cards” and “Leaving the place of serving the sentence”, provided by Turkish legislation.
During the physical control of this citizen, the Police services found and seized checks in large monetary amounts. Interpol Tirana in cooperation with Interpol Ankara, Turkey, and law enforcement agencies are following the procedures for the extradition of this citizen to Turkey.
