“Sami Frashëri”, one of the iconic schools of Tirana, on its 60th anniversary, will be ready to host the graduation ceremony for this year’s graduates in the new building, rebuilt after the earthquake of November 26, 2019.
Together with students, teachers and leaders of this school, which is expected to officially resume the teaching process in September, the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj inspected the progress of work on the reconstruction of the building, which, as he said, is even more beautiful than in 3D renders.
Veliaj: Whoever had doubts, whoever hung on to the railings to politicize the construction of “Sami”, of course today should see this masterpiece, which has come out even more beautiful than in the rendering. Our promise, in this 60th anniversary of the school “Sami Frashëri” is that the graduation ceremony will take place in the new building, and the school officially opens in September, with the new school year. I am very happy with how the works have progressed and it will really be a jewel, not only in the body of Tirana, but also in the fabric of education in Albania, “said the Mayor, Veliaj.
Starting from the presence of the teaching staff, Veliaj put forward the idea of remembering the generations of “samists”.
Veliaj: With the director we are thinking of creating a club of ‘alumni’ who graduated from “Samiu”, even with these facilities, we can make a museum area. I believe I did my part for the school, but everyone who has taught at “Samiu” will have to give a hand, if he can. “If we think of different things politically, at least it should not hinder us,” he said.
The new school “Sami Frashëri” is designed to meet the demand for a capacity of 1500 students, through 50 classes, each with 30 students. The new building is organized in 4 floors, creating several rooms where in addition to classrooms will be located laboratories, gyms, libraries, sports fields, etc., all transparent and illuminated by natural light that enables students to contact the greenery and nature. .
