Deputy President of the Supreme Court, Sokol Sadushi said that a problem that increases the number of files is the recourse of lawyers and public institutions that are done in an unfounded manner according to him.
“Albania has about 12.5 judges per 100 thousand inhabitants, while the European level is about 25 judges. Giving up unfounded recourses will significantly reduce this dossier. “I stand by the idea that there should be more advisors than judges, but I am not against their addition,” said Sadushi.
Among other things, he commented on the new court map, which he said is needed by the justice system.
“For the court map, I would stick to the idea that a single Civil Court at the level of appeal is the most acceptable solution because we are of the opinion that cases are considered completed in the Court of Appeals. Today we have 6 Courts of Appeal that have different positions on the same issue and only one court eliminates this risk and is a good opportunity for effectiveness in the trial.
This court map is needed by the justice system. A court map that structures judicial institutions is the most acceptable solution. The number of judges is another problem.
Their number and the number of prosecutors should be much higher than it is. Albania has about 12.5 judges per 100 thousand inhabitants, while the European level is about 25 judges. This is another issue that I believe will gradually be resolved. “A court map is a necessity, effectiveness and quality”, he said.
