The Secretary of State of the United Kingdom, Liz Truss, in an important foreign policy speech she gave in London, said that her country and its Western allies, in addition to Ukraine, should also orient themselves towards other countries that may be endangered by Russia, including the Western Balkans.
In this regard, she said the West should send weapons to other countries threatened by Russia.
“We must ensure that, in addition to Ukraine, the Western Balkans and countries like Moldova and Georgia have stability and are able to maintain their sovereignty and freedom,” Truss said.
She stressed that Russian forces should leave “all of Ukraine”, adding that victory for Ukraine is now a “strategic imperative” for the West. Her statement was the strongest coming from Britain, which has so far limited itself to declaring that President Putin’s invasion of Ukraine “must fail.”
Truss demanded that Western allies redouble their support for Kiev. “We will continue to move forward faster to expel Russia from all over Ukraine,” she said.
The British Foreign Secretary stressed that the war in Ukraine could drag on for 10 years, so action must be taken. The British minister said that this crisis should be the catalyst for a review of the West’s approach to international security
