President Ilir Meta convened a meeting of the National Security Council today to discuss the latest developments on the Ukraine-Russia border, as well as the consequences of a further escalation of a possible aggression against Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
President Meta emphasized in particular the necessity of identifying and maintaining contacts with Albanian citizens temporarily residing in Ukraine and enabling their evacuation in case of need, continuing security and defense reforms, strengthening capacities against cyber attacks, taking measures to increase the security of strategic infrastructure and guaranteeing state reserves in each case, as well as following with maximum attention the developments in our region.
President Meta and members of the National Security Council confirmed that Albania, even as a member of NATO and a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, is on the side of Ukraine, in defense of its sovereignty and territorial integrity. promotes dialogue and a peaceful path to resolving the current crisis.
