Russia suspends production of the antiviral drug remdesivir

Russia’s Supreme Court in May dismissed a lawsuit filed by Gilead Sciences challenging a decision to allow Pharmasyntez to develop and market remdesivir.

The government decree issued today states that Pharmasyntez must pay compensation to the drug patent holder, without specifying the amount.

Pharmasyntez produces remdesivir called Remdeform. A consignment of drugs was sent from Russia to India as part of a humanitarian operation.
