Russia has expelled eight Japanese and three Norwegian diplomats today, and the decision will remain in force until May 10.
The decision comes weeks after Japan ousted eight Russian diplomats in response to Russia’s war in Ukraine and the killing of civilians.
The Kremlin Foreign Ministry said it had called a representative of the Japanese embassy in Moscow and told him that the eight diplomats were to leave Russia by May 10.
Meanwhile, Norway’s foreign ministry said Russia would expel three Norwegian diplomats after Oslo expelled a similar number of Russian diplomats after Russia invaded Ukraine.
