Sweden announced today that it will extend some restrictions due to the coronavirus for two weeks.
The Swedish authorities indicate a record spread of coronavirus infection and estimate that the current measures should remain in force for another two weeks, after which they will be removed if the situation allows.
The reason for the extension of the restrictions is that the authorities expect the number of new infections to decrease within a few weeks. Sweden has reported 270,000 new infections in the last seven days.
Sweden, which had one of the most liberal approaches in Europe during most of the pandemic, has now restricted the operation of cafes, bars and restaurants to 23:00, urging citizens to work from home when possible and recommended distance learning in higher education.
