The Moroccans today continued to wait anxiously for the rescue operation of 5-year-old Rayan, already trapped for four days in a narrow well 30m deep near the house.
The complex and dangerous operation has attracted the attention of all residents in the North African country and even in neighboring Algeria.
Rayan has been falling into the 32-foot-deep hole in his village since Tuesday evening.
Local media said officials had managed to send water and oxygen to the trapped child, but did not provide further information on his condition.
The gallery is only 45 centimeters wide, making it impossible for rescue workers to pass through it.
Authorities said today that they are in the final stages of the operation to stabilize the ground and open a 3-meter-long horizontal tunnel to reach the child.
“We are near. “We worked non-stop for three days and the fatigue started, but the rescue teams continue the effort”, said one of the leaders of the operation, Abdesalam Makoudi.
