When citizens come together, they make a big difference in our lives. Such is the initiative of 22 thousand citizens of the Republic of Albania for the creation of the National Register of Authors of Sexual Offenses.
“The Committee on National Security approved this draft law in principle, which is a major event“, Says Iris Luarasi from Civil Society.
The draft law aims to monitor the perpetrators of sexual offenses of a sexual nature, who have been convicted by a final decision, providing for the reporting of certain personal data, registered in the National Register of Sexual Offenses perpetrators in order to: reduce the degree of recidivism, the facilitation of the investigation and prosecution of crimes that may be committed in the future, the prevention of the employment of perpetrators of sex crimes in child-related jobs, by prohibiting the employment of such persons who have been convicted of related offenses with sexual abuse in activities related to this category.
Enables risk assessment and risk management, ensures that law enforcement agencies protect the public by identifying the location of perpetrators of sexual crimes and providing the means to monitor their activities.
The initiative for drafting this draft law was achieved by collecting 22 thousand signatures of the voters for the proposal of the draft law of the Assembly of the Republic of Albania. There are currently 98 pedophiles in the country convicted by a final decision.
