We live in a time of paradox, where on the one hand we have price increases and shop windows filled with notices, where workers are sought, and on the other hand people who refuse work, due to low wages.
“The coastal cities that have the highest staffing requirements are for the most part panicking to find employees as they are not finding staff, while the season has almost started or is about to start. After trying to find staff through traditional methods, ie by asking their internal sources, or by placing large signs near their facilities, and they did not turn out to be positive, they went to the employment offices, to find people, because indeed the situation has reached where it no longer holds. Vacationers have already started frequenting their hotels while they have no staff to serve.
There are currently over 15 companies, or entities operating in the field of tourism, that have approached us to cooperate in finding their staff. Previously they were sporadic, ie. the season started and there could be somewhere between 2-3 or a maximum of 5.
We notice an imbalance between rising prices and workers refusing to work at low wages. This is due to the fact that the mentality of the people has changed and the procedures for working abroad have been facilitated. Those people who have experience in the tourism sector, have already used these experiences and are easily employed in Greece, Italy, or other countries, which have these types of requirements, and the payment in these foreign countries is much higher than the salary that they take in Albania, leaving these spaces or gaps within our country. ”- said Eranda Ymerali.
