A strange but at the same time unpleasant event happened at one of Stirling clinics in Scotland.
Leslie Sinclair, 66, a retired driver, is a dedicated donor who has donated 125 gallons of blood in the last five decades.
However, on his last visit to the Albert Halls Clinic he was banned from donating blood after saying it was unnecessary and pointless for him to answer a question on a form stating if he was pregnant as he is a man in his 60s, MailOnline reported.
The staff at the clinic said they could not accept his blood if he did not give an answer, arguing that it is not always clear if anyone is pregnant.
The father of two said he had given blood since he was 18 and had had no problems before.
He told MailOnline: There is always a form to fill out and that is okay, but they usually tend to ask about medical conditions or diseases, for the reason that blood should be safe. This time, there was a question I had not seen before: ‘Are you pregnant, or have you been in the last six months?’ which required an answer yes or no.
“It’s pointless and it makes me angry because there are vulnerable people waiting for blood, including children, and in desperate need of help. “, He added.
Professor Marc Turner, director of the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service said: We appreciate the support of each of our donor community and thank Mr Sinclair for his commitment over a long number of years.
