The meeting between the Russian and Ukrainian delegations in Belarus is expected to take place today, although President Volodymyr Zelensky does not expect to bring a solution to his country.
The picture shows the prepared table where the delegations of the two countries will sit for talks, while in the last hour it was reported that the sirens of the air attack were extinguished in some cities of Ukraine.
“The place for the talks between Russia and Ukraine in Belarus has been prepared, the delegations are expected to arrive,” the Belarusian Foreign Ministry wrote on social media, posting a photo of a long table with Russian and Ukrainian flags.
Yesterday, through an announcement in the Telegram, the office of President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that the two sides will meet at an unidentified location on the Belarusian border, while the time has not been announced.
Among other things, Ukraine insisted that the talks not take place in Belarus, where Russia sent a large number of troops before launching an attack on Ukraine on Thursday.
President Zelensky’s office said Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko, Putin’s ally, had agreed that during the talks, the weapons sent there would not move.
Putin, meanwhile, today ordered Russian nuclear forces to be on high alert, amid “aggressive statements by NATO leaders and economic sanctions against Moscow.”
The White House responded by saying that President Putin’s order was part of a threat posed by Moscow to justify aggression.
“Russia has never been under the threat of NATO, Russia has never been under the threat of Ukraine,” said a White House spokeswoman.
