20 ambulances have been added to the ambulance fleet of the National Medical Emergency Center. Prime Minister Edi Rama and Minister of Health and Social Protection Ogerta Manastirliu, stressed that this investment of the Albanian government is made in order to further transform the National Medical Emergency fleet, for service according to the best European standards.
“The new fleet of ambulances has just arrived. It is an investment of 1.4 million euros. 20 new ambulances equipped with all life-saving equipment have already arrived to further strengthen the National Emergency service system. Of course, also trying to face the impact of Covid19 “, said Manastirliu.
In the last four years the ambulance fleet in the territory has been strengthened with more than 100 new modern ambulances equipped with all life-saving vehicles.
“We have more than 100 ambulances invested and throughout Albania together with ambulances in all structures of health centers are over 250. But there are 127 posts which are organized to receive all calls,” said Manastirliu.
The Director of Komatatre Emergency Skënder Brataj emphasized that the new ambulances are equipped with all life-saving equipment, providing service with well-trained teams.
“The peculiarity this time is the fact that they are all with a fan, which means that the intubated patient can be transported from any corner of Albania. They are equipped with two 10 L cylinders and two 2 L oxygen cylinders, which spend over 16 hours of autonomy, so there is no problem for oxygen transmission especially at this time of the Pandemic. “Ambulances continue to be not only for COVID, but also for trauma”, stressed Brataj.
From the University Hospital of Tramua, Manastirliu announced that the investment for the modernization of the hospital has started, which will raise the service of this hospital to the highest contemporary level.
“We are making a new investment. It is the whole structure of the Emergency and Internal Medicine service. We will practically have a connection through an air corridor with the central building of the hospital. It will be possible for all internal diseases, including neurological diseases or other pathologies to be treated in this new structure, which is being rehabilitated and will be in the best contemporary conditions “, said Manastirliu.
With the reorganization of the emergency service and the establishment of the Coordination Unit, which has already spread throughout Albania, it has become possible to respond in a timely manner to any call for help on the unique number 127. Each service is registered online and above all has been shortened time of first aid. During 2021, over 140 thousand missions were carried out, more than half of which in Tirana, and over 70 thousand consultations were carried out by QKUM.
