Shortly before the start of the first intergovernmental conference in Brussels, Prime Minister Edi Rama told reporters that Albania did not waste time but worked as if the negotiations had been opened.
He said that Albania not only enters the negotiating countries for EU membership, but has improved in terms of legality and justice.
“What is very important to say today, as we have said before, we have not wasted time, we have not waited for the negotiations to formally start to move forward, just as if the negotiations had been opened. Today, Albania not only enters the four of the Western Balkans that are negotiating for membership, but in the most important aspect, the legal order and justice, we are at the vanguard of all of them.Rama told reporters.
Today, Albania starts official talks at the table with the European Union, this historic day after 16 years since the signing of the Stabilization-Association agreement, where it started its journey towards the EU, and 8 years after receiving the status of a candidate country.
