Prime Minister Edi Rama gave some details about the focus of the conversation during the informal meeting with the head of European diplomacy, Joseph Borell and the leaders of the Western Balkan countries.
Edi Rama: The conversation focused on the socio-economic situation, as a result of the consequences of the war and for the sake of truth, if we could have shared that conversation with the public in Albania, we would have heard a much more problematic situation than ours, in terms of financial sustainability, in terms of further financing of the economy, in terms of inflation and so on.
Regarding the crucial steps of European integration, Prime Minister Rama says that this situation can not continue any longer.
Edi Rama: We are in the position that is known, we will wait for the French presidency. Here the issue is with Bulgaria, which has taken Macedonia hostage and which, as a result, has made us hostage to a major stalemate that we have no connection with at all. However, we will immediately change course, as we have said and as we have received from the National Council in case our country does not move to the next stage to formally sit at the negotiating table.
Prime Minister Rama from Brussels reiterated Albania’s support for Kosovo in its efforts to join international organizations.
Rama: But when it comes to Kosovo demarches in the international arena, we are 100% with Kosovo. Serbia is certainly in its own right to think completely differently, we feel sorry for Serbia in this case, but we will support Kosovo.
