Tirana Zoo Park officially opened its doors today for young visitors. Hundreds of children were introduced to transformed environments, zoo animals, and information classes, where they can learn new things about nature. At the opening of the Zoo, Prime Minister Edi Rama and the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj said that this park has returned to the citizens, not only as an entertainment space, but also as an educational environment.
Today we have brought a new philosophy, we have escaped from that former prison, about which I heard the Prime Minister when he said that “the lion ate papate”. Today, especially wildlife, there are hundreds of square feet where they can move, but we also have three information classes for children. The new Zoo is no longer a transit, but a destination. I invite all the leaders of educational institutions to use this space as a second school “, said Veliaj.
The Mayor underlined that thanks to the investments for the transformation of the Lake Park and the Zoo, the value of the property of the surrounding community has also increased. Veliaj added that 80-90 new parking spaces have been added to the community with the underground parking of the garden. On the other hand, Veliaj thanked Prime Minister Rama for the support in the implementation of projects.
“It is a little easier for me because I have the help of the prime minister to do this job better. He has insisted from the beginning that, not only to liberate the Zoo, but to create a fantastic space for children, which increases the value of the property, which is also welcomed by the community, which makes the zoo worthy of being certified by all international institutions for humane treatment of animals; “someone has always encouraged me that, despite the hysteria of all those who say that towers and palaces will be built here, this is where the Square, the Bazaar, the Castle, the new Boulevard became, and the Toy Corner at the Lake became”, he said .
The Mayor stressed that the work will not stop here. Veliaj gave the good news that after the Zoo, the transformation of the pool complex near the Lake Park, as well as the Botanical Garden will continue. “We have just liberated the pools and we will transform all that space with the same zeal. We will do the same at the Botanical Garden, even though we are senselessly hindered by idiotic trials that only hinder work in the city. Meanwhile, we saw very well that when we liberated “Sami Frashëri” from the courts, when we liberated the “Kosova” school from the courts, the work moved forward and came to light. Each of us will be remembered for the traces he left, not for the speeches he made. So, with the same zeal, and the support of Edit, we will continue to the pools, we will continue to the Botanical Garden, to totally transform Tirana, as befits the European capital of Youth “, stressed Veliaj.
Prime Minister Rama said that the Zoo has been completely reborn, in a space incomparable to what it was before. He said that this has been achieved thanks to the great work of a chain of people who, after many obstacles, managed to transform today Zoo Park Tirana.
“It took a lot of work, very confusing, with a lot of things that come forward suddenly, even when they have nothing to do, and here we are today in this Zoo Park in Tirana, a fantastic space, a reborn environment completely, incomparable in nothing to what it was before, even in its best days, and not then in the period of gloomy days, a garden with fantastic spaces for the animals gathered here, but also for children, parents, grandparents. In addition to a space full of attractions and entertainment opportunities, this is also a learning space, education with the animal world. I am glad that, like the stadium, this structure is also in the heart of the capital, a world close to the daily world of housing, which makes it very easy for parents to get here, but which makes the contact between urban life and special life here much more beautiful and healthy “, stressed Rama.
The Tirana Zoo underwent its complete transformation. From a forgotten space, the Municipality of Tirana reconceptualized it, adapting to the different requirements of the visitors who frequent it and the animals that live there. The kindergarten offers spaces for services and facilities necessary for visitors, recreational environments where green spaces predominate, as well as playgrounds for children, but there are also educational facilities for students and pupils who study especially the animal world.
