The presentation of the platforms of the candidates in the race for president of the SP continued in Unit 7, where the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, and the deputies Etilda Gjoni and Blerina Gjylameti, pointed out the importance of working in a team, like a family that grows day by day – days with new energy.
Veliaj said that the opponents of the Socialist Party have their own philosophy of division and that in the protest announced by them, even they themselves do not know what they will protest about.
“I don’t understand what these people are protesting because neither the earthquake, nor the pandemic, nor the energy crisis was caused by our government. I understand when someone protests about the events of January 21, where people were killed on the Boulevard. I understand when someone protests about Gërdec that people were blown up there. But to protest about things that are not in the hands of the government, on the contrary, the government has fallen under the burden of solving them, even though they are caused elsewhere, this is their wonder. But, even when they are organized in battle against us, they say, we will overthrow these socialists, but Luli and his team will not come. One says that Ilir Meta should come, the other says that Ilir Meta should not come. So their philosophy is separation. They think they become stronger by being divided. We have a completely different philosophy, we think we become stronger by growing together, as a family”, said Veliaj.
Then, the mayor added that while the opponents fight with each other, the Socialist Party fights to be as committed to everyone as possible.
“I know what will happen on July 7! Those of Luli will be told to run away. However, our party is completely different. In our party, the headquarters do not burn down when there are elections, people do not beat each other, nor do they come with sledgehammers and baseball bats to beat opponents. The SP battle is for the people, for a better government,” added Veliaj.
Thanking MP Etilda Gjoni for the work done when she headed the Ministry of Justice, the head of the Municipality said that the facts are that justice is moving in the right direction.
“When I started work as mayor, the Municipality of Tirana won 1 in 10 trials against the occupiers or abusers. Today we are in a situation where, thanks to the judicial reform, the same municipality, in the name of public interest, wins 9 out of 10 trials. We have an endless confrontation with lawbreakers. They are a minority, but a noisy minority, and until yesterday it was a powerful minority. They won, the strong one won, cubi won, laci won. Today is different. We may indeed have anomalies with a judge granting security measures in favor of one who built without permission inside the cemetery, but the other seven gave the right decision. You cannot build without permission in the cemetery. “You lived 30 years among funerals, but after 30 years everyone must continue either in a social housing, or with a soft loan, or with a rent bonus”, concluded Veliaj.
