As the invasion of Ukraine escalated, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s unusual friendship with American actor Steven Seagal has been in the media spotlight.
The strange couple have been friends for several years as Seagal has called the Russian leader “brother” several times in interviews.
Yesterday a suspicious photo by the American blogger Joe Roganjokingly claimed that Seagal had joined the Russian army in the invasion of Ukraine, but this did not take into account the fact that Seagal is already almost 70 years old.
Rogan later admitted that he was parodying the “news” because, according to him, the narrative of the war in Ukraine is a “vicious film in which we live, as before with the virus.”
Rona wrote:
“I deleted the previous post about Steven Seagal in Ukraine because it was a parody, and that was understandable, but I would not be surprised if it were true.”
He continued: “Seagal was barred from entering Ukraine in 2017 when he was called by the authorities there a ‘national threat’. “Like all of you, I hope the tragic situation is resolved quickly.”
And in fact Seagal has called it Putin “One of the greatest leaders in life.”
The pair share their love of martial arts and Seagal has got it Russian citizenship since 2016.
In 2018, Seagal was appointed Russia’s special envoy to the United States for humanitarian issues, cooperation in culture, art and youth exchanges.
Meanwhile the war continued today in Ukraine with fierce battles near the capital Kiev.
Bombings were reported today and in the country’s second largest city Kharkiv.
